In the recent Possum Club news, I was giving away Queensland Flood Appeal packs of fabric. The response has been overwhelming thank you to everyone, but there are still some packs left, Queensland Flood Packs. I thought I would share with you what some of the girls have made with the fabric, thanks to the Wednesday Owls girls here in Perth for a fun sew in day.

To help make a difference to families who have lost everything Toni from Make It Perfect is organizing a Queensland Flood Appeal Auction. On Monday 17th January, Toni will have a master list of bloggers who are running auctions from their blogs or Facebook, selling products that they've made. A New Year

Hopefully everyone has had a safe, happy Xmas - New Year, and santa was kind to you all, I took the time to be with loved ones and relax.

I LOVE XMAS

Just before the festive season started in full swing I turned my drab dinning chairs into something fabulous.

Still have to rework the dinning table but the chairs turned out great.

The fabric is canvas weight from the Prints Charming girls in Sydney. I cut random strips, sewing them together until I had enough of a reworked piece of fabric to cover each chair. I painted the chairs in a matt white finish, as I'm still trying to decide if I distress the chairs.

Also had a visit from a friend in Nashville - Kirsty, Stuart and the new addition Toby,

he's 6 months old and a delightful little boy, was wonderful to catch up with them.

Promise Kirsty, we are coming to you this year.

Working now on some throw down mats for the little ones,

in between dipping in the pool, it's been hot. xoxo D

This weeks happenings

Wednesday Fiona was here to put together her Catilicious, a custom designed single bed quilt, loving the colors Fiona has chosen.

Still have one more border to add, so Fiona's homework for this week is to get them pieced together, ready for trimming to size next week. Stay Tuned for the finished quilt.....

Also the lovely Natalie and Julie were here today and Nat got her first ever Merrily Mermaid quilt top put together, it was great to see them both and the smile on Nat's face just beautiful, quote from Natalie, "I would have never have thought I could do this". Beautiful work!

Studio room in my house

Been absent for awhile, I have been very sick with more than the usual summertime flu and so it has taken me weeks to organize the new studio room in my house, finally I think I've got everything a place.

What did happen was I ended up with lots of what I call skinny bolts (end of bolts), large scrap pieces and fat quarters and 1/8th's leftover from the studio. What to do, make up into a Possum Pack, many different colors, red, pink, blue, green, orange, yellow, purple and blacks. Available now on the web site.

Christmas - 32 days OMG!!!!!!!!

Having just been reminded how many days left till Christmas, thought I had better think about it soon or .......

With a few friends we exchange christmas decorations, I just love adding new ones to my tree every year. So these are the ones they are getting this year. As they were so Prints Charming decided to kit a few up for online, you can purchase the kit here, PC Xmas there is the two color ways pink or blue.

Easy to make -

Cut each one of the nine hearts out of the panel on the marked line.
Cut your background color into a square slightly bigger than the heart.
Place a piece of scrap wadding between the front and back - place a piece of ribbon in the crest of the heart, pin this and allow enough of a loop to hang on your tree - make sure you have the wrong sides facing the wadding, then sew a straight stitch around in a heart shape. Sewing all three layers together and over the ribbon tie.
Embroider as you like - I have just used running stitch and a few french knots on some, in lots of different colored embroidery threads.
With pinking shears cut around your heart shape - making sure not to cut off your loop.

Hot Possum studio is relocating.

What does this mean - due to family commitments the studio is going back to work from home. All the lovely designs and kits you have come to love will be available on-line and in the near future fabric also.

When does this happen - the last trading day in the studio will be Sat 25th September. As there's not a house big enough to hold all the gorgeous fabric the SALE will continue until the 25th. Looking forward to seeing you all soon. xxx D

It's been a busy week in the studio with a couple of Chelsea quilts finished. It must be one of our most popular designs & one of the designs where everyone is really creative with colour. Well done to Jill & Christine, they look fabulous!

I've also made a baby blanket using quilt fuse, I know its cheating but it's quick & the results are always perfect. I backed this one with a soft fleece to make it really cuddly & surprising for me, I actually got something finished BEFORE the baby has been born! x x C

We have a wonderful customer Elaine, who started her Hot Possum journey in a class when we first opened the shop, she has now become one of our best assets & helps at the shop whenever she can! Thankfully she is always keen for an armful of sewing whenever there are new designs on the table so quite frankly we would be lost without her! Well this is her latest masterpiece. She has replaced all the pinks with blues & is works beautifully. I love it when a quilt is finished especially when someone has played with the colours & made the design their own. x x C

Well it may look as though we have been doing nothing since 2009 but in truth we have been busy creating plenty - just too busy / lazy to post them!

It seems that the world is swarming with owls & babushkas at the moment so just trying to keep up, we gave them the Hot Possum touch.

Our owl quilt is affectionally called 'Wednesday Owls' as we have a truely wonderful group of ladies that come to the shop every Wednesday. They faithfully arrive each week with their project tucked under one arm & a scrumptious homemade lunch & a fresh baked cake under the other. Over the past two years we have all shared our ups & downs with each other, had a few laughs & they have produced an inspiring collection of work. We love them so much we named a quilt after them. They are all doing their own version of the quilt so i'll post photos as they finish them.

'Catilicious' was the result of me finally relenting to the constant demands for a cat quilt - I am not a cat lover so it was no easy task for me! . . . but now it is finished I love it & have all sorts of other cat projects on the go!

We have been overwhelmed with the response to our 'Babushkas' - it was a huge hit at both the Perth & Sydney craft fairs. There are plenty being made in class at the moment & I have a few people busy sewing some exciting new projects to accompany it so watch this space!

It goes without saying that all patterns are available on line & in the shop & we can always make you a kit in what ever crazy colour scheme you would like.

It feels good to be back in 'blogland' & Denise & I have a renewed enthusiasm to keep this thing up-to-date . . . feel free to nag us if we slip again!! x x Claire

At the Perth Craft fair we had the honour of some of our students displaying their finished quilts that they have completed in class at the studio. The girls (young and younger) have done such a delightful job of the quilts for both daughters and granddaughters and for the boys too. We hope that this inspires you!

Annette's "Chelsea Bloom" - a lap quilt which is normally made in a variety of colours, has been breathtaking to see it completed in black and white's.

I love the school holidays as I get to have fun in the shop with my 'biggest' girl. I left Lucy's two younger sisters in the capable hands of grandparents & Lucy & I had a great day playing with fabric. She confidently took over the sewing machine in between helping me and look what she came up with! Not bad for an eight year old . . . . she must have a really good teacher!!

well the girls in class have been busy today,

Annette's Popcorn Lap quilt is delightful, her son is going to love it. Even though it was noted that they are Essendon colours and he doesn't barrack for them.

Trish completed her Florence table runner top, ready for the next stage, Trish has machine blanket stitch as life is pretty busy at the moment and hand stitching was not an option this week.

A big well done and great job girls!!!

Hi Everyone

This is our first time blogging, so bear with us while we learn all about it.

We have been very busy with new designs in the studio, lots of beautiful fabric comes in and inspires us both and we just have to play with it straight away.

The Florence table runner is nearing completion, with the newest Amy Butler fabrics looking fab!
